{"id":1499,"date":"2014-06-20T12:15:38","date_gmt":"2014-06-20T12:15:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/gcequipment.com\/?p=1499"},"modified":"2018-03-29T07:42:58","modified_gmt":"2018-03-29T07:42:58","slug":"oil-reclamation-systems","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/oilregeneration.globecore.com\/oil-reclamation-systems","title":{"rendered":"Oil Reclamation Systems"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The main purpose and benefit of transformer oil reclamation\u00a0is to completely restore the insulating oil back to new like condition without having to buy new oil or dispose of old oil.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong><em>GlobeCore Process<\/em><\/strong> of oil reclamation is performed by extracting water\/moisture, acids, particulate matter and other undesirable contaminates such as unsaturated hydrocarbons, asphalt-resinous substances, sulfur and nitrogen compounds from the oil.\u00a0 The process of regenerating transformer oil uses various technologies based on (1) physical, (2) physico-chemical and (3) chemical processes.<\/p>\n<p>There are several chemical methods of deep oil reclamation.\u00a0 The most common one consists of\u00a0 an acid-alkaline-earth method.\u00a0 This method of oil purification is based on treating the oil with sulfuric acid.\u00a0 The sulfuric acid acts to compact and bind all the unstable compounds into an acid sludge oil.\u00a0 Tar is then removed by &#8220;<em>settling&#8221;<\/em> and the remains of the sulfuric acid and organic acids are neutralized by the use of an alkali treating oil.\u00a0 Following that, the oil is washed with distilled water, dried and treated for complete neutralization with bleaching earth.\u00a0 After final filtration, the oil becomes completely regenerated.<\/p>\n<h2 align=\"center\">Transformer Oil Recl<a href=\"http:\/\/oilregeneration.globecore.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2014\/06\/DSC_1530.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1500\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" title=\"oil reclamation unit CMM 6R with degassing\" src=\"http:\/\/oilregeneration.globecore.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2014\/06\/DSC_1530-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"oil reclamation unit CMM 6R with degassing\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a>amation\u00a0Methods<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Mechanical &#8211; To remove from the oil moisture\/water and solid contaminants (filtration, centrifugal action, sludge removal);<\/li>\n<li>Thermo-physical &#8211; evaporation, vacuum distillation;<\/li>\n<li>Physico-chemical &#8211; coagulation, adsorption;<\/li>\n<li>Chemical \u2013 if three methods are not enough, this method involves the usage of much more difficult and costly equipment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 align=\"center\">Physical Methods of Reclamation\u00a0of Transformer Oil<\/h2>\n<p>The physical method of <strong>transformer oil reclamation<\/strong> is usually referred to as purification by removing mechanical impurities and water, i.e. drying.<\/p>\n<p>All Transformer oils, (whether new, old, or operational), that are contaminated by mechanical impurities and water, can be corrected in most cases by one of the following reclamation methods as long as there have been no changes in its chemical properties or other the significant changes that have altered the basic qualities of the oil.\u00a0 Undesirable contaminates that deteriorate the initial properties of the oil, can be dissolved in the oil or found in the oil in an undissolved state.\u00a0 Thanks to mechanical cleaning, these undesirable\u00a0 contaminates can be removed from the oil.<\/p>\n<h2 align=\"center\">Oil Drying<\/h2>\n<p>The most advanced and cost effective method of oil drying is by spraying the oil under vacuum at a low temperature.\u00a0 The solution of the oil and water is sprayed through a nozzle that is placed in a tank of water in which <em>&#8220;under-pressure&#8221;<\/em> is created.\u00a0 Thus the free and dissolved moisture and the dissolved air are removed from oil.\u00a0 When the oil is <em>&#8220;thin dispersed&#8221;<\/em> it quickly gives up its moisture.
