Heating Oil: Household And Industrial Version

Heating oil is a residual product of oil refining.  In simple terms, by its characteristics this fuel is something between oil residue and diesel fuel.  Heating oil is widely used for heating of private houses, as well as a heat transfer agent at various industrial plants.

This oil product gained its popularity due to its effectiveness, economical efficiency and ease of use compared with other known analogues: oil residue and diesel fuel.

Today, heating oil is not a certified product, but that does not stop manufacturers from producing a high quality product.  A user can refer to technical documentation to find all the necessary characteristics.  When choosing heating oil, closer attention should be given to such parameters as ash-content, viscosity, combustion temperature and pour point.

Qualitative characteristics of the end product depend on many initial factors, mainly the production process and feedstock (oil).

Heating oil does not have any strong smell and is not toxic.  Сombustion does not form any solid residue.

Heating oil production can give two varieties of the product.  We are talking about light and dark heating oil.

Light heating oil resembles diesel fuel and is characterized mainly by the presence of a larger amount of impurities.  Its calorific value is higher than that of the known analogs.  Dark heating oil contains an even greater amount of impurities, and this explains its color.  Such product is to be shipped in special tanks.  To protect boilers from ingress of dirt it is recommended to use a fine metal mesh during transfer.

Another advantage of heating oil is its “simplicity” that is reflected in the absence of any special storage requirements.  It is enough to observe only general fire precautions.
