CMM-6/7 Mobile degassing unit

The GlobeCore CMM-6/7 is a multi-purpose oil treatment unit designed for heating, pumping and purifying insulating and cooling oils used in transformers, OLTCs, transformer bushings, high-voltage switches and similar electrical equipment. It removes particulate matter, dissolved gases and moisture from oil, and can also evacuate air from transformer tanks during repairs or servicing. Processing capacity ranges from 3,000 to 7,000 liters per hour depending on the selected operating mode.

Design

The unit is housed in a self-contained container enclosing all major components: a cylindrical vacuum chamber, booster and backing vacuum pumps, oil pumps, an oil heater, coarse and fine filters, and a control panel with indicator lights and operating buttons.

Operating modes

The CMM-6/7 supports four modes. In pumping mode, oil passes through the filters and pumps only — the simplest and fastest configuration. In heating and filtration mode, oil is first warmed by the heater and then passed through the filters before reaching the outlet. In degassing mode, oil is heated to 50–55°C, filtered, and then introduced into the vacuum chamber, where special packing material increases the oil’s exposed surface area, allowing vacuum and heat to extract water and dissolved gases efficiently. In evacuation mode, the unit connects to external equipment via hose and uses its vacuum pumps to remove air from that equipment.

Automation

The level of operator involvement depends on the automation package selected at the time of order. In the basic version, the operator starts the unit, selects the mode and adjusts the flow rate manually via valves. In the fully automatic version, the desired flow rate is set on the control panel and maintained without further intervention.

Safety

The CMM-6/7 includes multilayer protection: overcurrent and overload protection, safeguards against oil leaks from hose rupture or overheating, protection against control system faults and power cable failure. If any protection trips, an alarm sounds and the control system safely shuts the machine down, notifying the operator of the fault.

The CMM-6/7 is intended for transformer manufacturers, power utilities and service or repair facilities working with oil-insulated electrical equipment.
